Pasta Goodness

God says: I will provide the money
I say: Sure, but let me try it that way..
God says: Don't worry about it, I'll provide
I say: I know, I know. Just do it that way ok?
God says: Audrey, don't you remember what I did last week??
I say: Of course I do. But tonight I have this goal I need to reach...

God says: BAM! Here is your money, what did I tell you?

I say: Sorry I doubted... You were right.. again!

The evening went really well!
I got a little sidetracked when things didnt go the way I had planned them, but God found a way to overcome those issues

... and He gave me $500

Praise the Lord!

This brings me to a total of $3 520

Providing...!

OH my goodness! I'm sooo excited!
So I had this goal: that with the money for the pasta night it would get me to 3 000 dollars or close to it

but then this week , I kept getting donations and as I was talking in church today, I got 250$ ..
and so I decided to count how much I had..

3 020$!

... and the least I'll make on tuesday night is 600$ !!

God is just so amazingly good!!

Coffeehouse Fundraiser in the Den

For those of you who don’t know, tonight I had a fundraiser at school which consisted of live music, improv, chai/bake sale, clothing sale and henna tattoos. My goal was to raise $650 which would have brought me to a total amount of $1000 to date. I was clearly blessed with the amount of people that showed up! College friends, professors, community members and church friends were in attendance. There were a lot of people who contributed to make this night a success: from supplying deserts and tea, to helpers for set up and tear down and even people who contributed their performance talents and those who made donations.

God is so amazingly good! Not only did I have great conversations about my upcoming internship and my certainty of God’s provision, but also my financial goal for the evening was surpassed by a significant amount! I know deep in my heart that since God is sending me to serve him, he will take care of all my needs, both spiritual and financial.

Tonight’s fundraising total was:

$ 1 774, 33

Which brings me to a grand total of:

$ 2 124, 33

Internship - January to July 2011

Monday, November 8th.

Dear friends and family,

As you may already know, this is my third year of studies at Briercrest College. Being in the Global Studies Bachelor of Arts, it entails that students spend a whole semester overseas in a different cultural context. There were so many options to choose from. This is so exciting: six months overseas, trying to get a glimpse of possible career opportunities! In two months, I will be on my way to Africa!

Current estimates suggest around 340 million people speaking 2078 languages may still have a need for Bible translation to begin. If I believe that the Bible is God’s Word, that it is still applicable today, and that I want to live my life by it, then why would I not take part in translation work when the opportunity comes? As I was getting ready for this internship, I asked myself: “What would I want to do with the rest of my life? What am I going to do with my degree? How can I make this internship count?” To be honest, I don’t have all the answers but I know this is where I should take my next step, and I am thrilled to have you embark on this with me!

In January 2011, I will fly over the Atlantic Ocean and settle in the rain forest of South-East Cameroon. There, along with another student, I will be living with Henny and David Thormoset in Yokadouma and in Yaounde for six months. I will begin to learn the Mpumpong language and help with French-English translations. Hopefully, I will travel to various Bible translation projects in nearby cities and villages, help them with training team members in computer skills, management and financial skills, and to help Mpumpong colleagues develop literacy materials in Mpumpong. I could help out with ministry to children or youth or young women, holding Bible study in French. My French will be a tremendous asset. Helping with cooking, market shopping, household chores, and hospitality will also be part of my internship. I will serve as best as I can.

Recognizing the need to reach all peoples, Wycliffe’s particular focus is participating in and encouraging the worldwide Church in ministry among minority language communities. My internship in Cameroon will be aimed more specifically at literacy, the first step in Bible translation, since the Mpumpong language is still oral; in the midst of being put into a written language. I might also be traveling to other projects to see Bible translation projects in process, at various stages of completion.

I really feel that God is calling me to serve in Cameroon this January. It is really exciting to be a part of what He is already doing amongst Africans. I want to invite you to embark on this serving opportunity with me.

I cannot make this internship happen without your help. I will need prayer support-I will do my best to keep updating my blog- as well as monetary support. I will post a detailed chart of my projected expenses on my blog to give you an idea of where the money is going.

As you keep me in your prayers, I would love to know how to pray for you. I want this to be support in prayer from both sides. Please email me; I will be more than happy to commit to pray for you.

I need to raise $9000. In order to support me financially, you have the option of making monthly donations –I am there for six months. You can either give the money directly to me or send it to Wycliffe Canada (see the address below and along with your cheque, to Wycliffe Bible Translators, include a note with your name, address and date). Your donations are tax deductible by Wycliffe Canada when over $25.

For His Glory,

Audrey Allan
